Robert âœBuffalo Bob❠Corey, winner of the Freedom Munition Case of Ammo Door Prize poses with Dick Pack on the left, president of the 101st Airborne Association, and Bill Ball, president of the 101st Airborne Association Gulf Chapter. Buffalo Bob served as a Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol and RECONDO member with Headquarters Company, 2d Battalion, 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment (Airborne) in Vietnam in 1965-1967. Bob asked that the case of ammo be âœre-gifted❠in some way to help deployed soldiers and their families at Fort Campbell.

To accommodate Bobâ™s wishes, the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter, sponsor of the 2012 âœSnowbird❠Reunion in Tampa, raffled off the ammunition with the proceeds donated to the Screaming Eagle Support Fund, a non-profit fund established to assist soldiers and families at Fort Campbell, KY, home of the Screaming Eagles. The winner of the ammo was Jerry Gomes, pictured with Bob, who also served as a Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol member in Vietnam in 1967-1969 with E Company (LRRP), 3rd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment (Airborne/Airmobile).

The Snowbird Reunion was started by 101st Airborne Division Screaming Eagles veterans soon after WWII. This year over two hundred Screaming Eagles who served in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, plus active duty soldiers who served in the Gulf wars, their families and friends rendezvoused in Tampa, hosted by the Associationâ™s Florida Gulf Chapter. The gathering included Division friends from Holland and Belgium who continue to remember the sacrifices and bravery of the Screaming Eagles in WWII.
Rudy Zaruba, owner of Freedom Munitions, was kind enough to donate the case to the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter.
